I don't know how long I've been waiting on hold this morning, but it feels like at least two years.
We bought a fridge last year and, before even one year was up on that ownership, the fridge started "acting up". Not like the children where you can send them to their room and make them learn a lesson so they don't do what ever it was that got them into trouble again, but more like the lights are out and the power is not on acting up. This, I've found, isn't all that great for foods that you actually want kept cold. Granted it seems to work more often than not, but when you buy a new appliance you kinda expect it to work all of the time.
Against our better judgment we bought the old freezer box from a local store (which they advertise as being so fantastically "family" and customer service orientated. Liars.) mainly because we could make payments on the fridge rather than fork out the big bucks all at once (a debt, by the way, that I accelerated my payments on and paid off much sooner than planned).
Anyhoo, back to now. The lovely store that we bought the fridge from had someone come out to look at it and they visited us, told us that the power cord could be replaced and then never called or came back again (reminds me of some dates that I've had in the past). The store said that they've tried to contact me (ha!) and I just didn't call them back.
Finally, about two weeks ago, one of the customer service people from said store called and told me that somehow I was not notified that back in MAY a brand new fridge was approved to be sent to us rather than the old one be fixed. Good news, I know. But we were told this in July. That's kind of a long time to have a temperamental refrigerator sitting in your kitchen making your food go funny.
I've been called since then to arrange a delivery time for the new fridge, but the person that I called back said that they didn't know anything about it. Call the repair people. So I call the repair people and they said call the store. I call the store (again) and I am told that I have to call the repair people. I tell them that they told us to call them, so they suggest calling the fridge manufacturer directly.
Of course the manufacturer's customer service line doesn't actually seem to have people working on the other end of it. If they do they must all be sitting back and laughing at how many people are waiting on hold.
